SubCommander Steff aka Strax (people at cons only relate to Strax) has been portrayed by my wife since 2011. She was the first modern Sontaran cosplay known at any convention and the first Sontaran cosplayer Dan Starkey had met. It was great excitement when she finally was able to meet him and have her picture taken with him. It was so much fun that when she walked into the autograph room he had to stop autographs to have his picture taken with her! Even the other guest wanted the picture. Was quite a rush to have the stars of the show appreciate your work like that.
Our build work as a Sontaran cosplayer has now helped others in the cosplay community and we hope to continue this effort.
This is the first time she had taken the Sontran helmet away and decided to go with a mask. It was a painful process that went through many changes and even this one is far from correct. But was a last minute stand in after some difficulty with the mould and masks pulls.
Our current version. We have several pulls from this mould so may make some modifications based on the test a friend in the UK had done with the mouth area. The mouth has given us the most trouble so if we can perfect that spot we will be very happy with this mask.
